Word for Word turns what people say into large, readable text. The recognition is Apple’s, built into your iPhone. There is no account, no server of ours, and nothing you say is ever sent to us.

Who is responsible
Word for Word (“the app”) is made by RBN Apps. Questions about this policy: service@rbnapps.com.
What the app does not do
- No accounts or sign-in.
- No analytics, tracking or advertising.
- No server of ours: the app never contacts RBN Apps, and we receive nothing at all.
- Nothing is sold or shared with third parties.
Microphone
The microphone is used only while you are listening, to turn speech into text on screen. It stops the moment you tap Stop listening or leave the app. The audio is never recorded to a file and never saved.
Speech recognition
The app uses Apple’s speech recognition, which is part of iOS. It asks for recognition on your device, so that in normal use the audio does not leave your iPhone.
Some languages cannot be recognised on the device. If the language you picked has no on-device model installed, iOS cannot do the work locally, and the app falls back to Apple’s speech recognition service so that captions keep working. In that case the audio is sent to Apple and handled under Apple’s privacy policy. This is the same service and the same handling as iPhone dictation. It is why iOS shows you a notice about Apple when you first allow speech recognition.
Either way, the recognition is between your iPhone and Apple. We are not part of it and we never see the audio or the text.
The captions on screen
The text you are reading is held in your iPhone’s memory only. It is never written to a file and never leaves the app. It is cleared when you tap the bin, when you start listening again, and when the app closes.
What is stored on your iPhone
- Your settings: text size, high contrast, the language you caption in, and whether the app starts listening on its own.
- Whether you have finished the opening screens.
- Whether you have Premium, and how much of the free sample you have used.
That is the whole list. None of it says anything about you, none of it leaves your iPhone, and all of it is removed when you delete the app.
Purchases
Premium is a monthly or yearly subscription bought through Apple’s App Store. Apple processes the payment under Apple’s privacy policy. The app only checks with Apple, on your device, whether your subscription is active. We receive no personal or payment information.
The subscription renews automatically until you cancel it. You can cancel or change it at any time in your iPhone’s Settings under your Apple Account → Subscriptions. Cancel at least 24 hours before the end of a period to avoid being charged for the next one; Premium stays on until the paid period ends.
Children
The app collects no data from anyone, including children.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will be published at this address with a new effective date.
