Winders
Found, added
and turning
Nearly everything that goes wrong is the network rather than the winder. The two panels below cover it; if they do not, write to us.
What it does
Winders finds every watch winder on your Wi-Fi and controls them from your iPhone: how many turns a day, which direction, how long it rests between sets, and what the winder’s own panel shows. There is no account and no cloud — the app talks to the winders directly.
Adding a winder
- Power the winder on and keep your iPhone within a few metres of it.
- Open Add a winder. A new winder is found over Bluetooth, because it is not on your Wi-Fi yet.
- Pick your network and enter its password. The winder restarts, joins, and appears in the Winders list.
When it will not connect
- 2.4 GHz only. The winder’s radio cannot see a 5 GHz network at all. If your router publishes both bands under one name, make sure the 2.4 GHz side is switched on.
- Nothing appears anywhere. Allow Local Network for the app in Settings → Privacy & Security → Local Network. iOS blocks apps from finding things on your Wi-Fi until you do.
- Nothing in the Winders list. Your iPhone has to be on the same network as the winder. A guest network or mobile data will not reach it.
- A winder is on but greyed out. The app remembers winders, so one that is not answering stays on the list instead of vanishing. Open it and the screen says what it has tried.
- Do not pair it in Bluetooth settings. A winder never appears there; Bluetooth is used only while adding one.
- Changed your Wi-Fi password, or moved house. Open the winder’s settings, use Forget network, then add it again.
The same answers are in the app, under Menu → When it will not connect.
Buying the app
Winders is a single purchase, charged to your Apple Account, with no subscription and nothing further to buy. On a new iPhone, sign in to the same Apple Account and download it again — you are not charged twice.
Refunds are handled by Apple, not by us. Go to reportaproblem.apple.com, sign in, and choose the purchase.
Anything else
Write to service@rbnapps.com. It helps to say what the winder’s own panel is showing and whether the app ever found it, but tell us what you saw and we will work it out.
